Hello, my name is Marc Mailand. While I'm the founder of the company, my wife and children are the co-founders. And I'm not just saying that to sound humble. They really are! They contribute to ideas, help me troubleshoot problems, and sacrifice to get this company off the ground. I started my career over 25 years ago, working in children's animation. Later on, I transitioned to the video game industry, where I worked primarily as a sound designer and audio director. While audio was my specialty, I had the opportunity to act, write, and direct short films throughout my career. The idea behind Toggle Book Factory was born out of a wonderful experience creating a book with my son. He had a few nightmares when he was a toddler, so I would tell him stories to distract him from his fears. Over the next couple of years, we would brainstorm and work on these story ideas verbally. Finally, one day we decided to sit down at the computer and write a book together. After we finished and printed our story, I saw that my son had a deep connection to the book he helped create. He would share his printed story with friends and relatives. And seven years later, he still has a copy of the book in his room. Today he reads about 300 pages a day from his favorite book titles. Of course, the way he is hardwired contributes to his thirst for reading, but I think our experience creating a book together helped him develop of love for reading and writing books. After that experience, I started thinking about the innovations made in film, television, and video games over the last 50 years, but how little books have changed. I wondered if we innovated children's books and brought them into the 21st century if more kids might be excited about reading. I started dreaming of combining production techniques from TV and games to create cutting-edge children's books. And here we are, trying to make this dream a reality, one book at a time!
